The Bute Family Charitable Trust was founded in 1981 by the Sixth Marquess of Bute to to provide funding for charitable causes.
The Bute Family
The Bute Family are from the Mount Stuart Estate on the Isle of Bute, their heritage dating back to 1371. Whilst being descendants of Robert II of Scotland, they carry a long line of powerful influential family members who have made a significant impact within politics, horticulture and architecture.
Mount Stuart House has been open to the public since 1995 and will be celebrating it's 20th Anniversary this year.
