Our traditional heritage is rooted in our founder, the 5th Marquess of Bute. The company initially wove apparel fabrics for the Haute Couture industry but by the late 1970’s had changed to weaving contract furnishing fabrics for some of the big names in office furniture including Steelcase and Herman Miller. Since then, the quality and style of our fabrics has been recognised worldwide seeing fabrics produced in our small mill travel as far as the United States, Japan, Australia and Scandinavia, as well as within the United Kingdom and Europe.
More recently, we have collaborated with leading product designers such as Jasper Morrison, Tom Dixon, Barber Osgerby and Timorous Beasties and also weave custom bespoke fabrics for leading contract wholesalers in the United States. Our markets have expanded to include auditoria, airports, theatres, restaurants and the hotel and leisure sector. You really can get around the world from the Firth of Clyde.
