The Royal Festival Hall

festival hall auditorium

London architects Allies and Morrison commissioned Bute Fabrics to design upholstery fabric for the seats in the Royal Festival Hall, the refurbishment project was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize in 2008.

Requiring high acoustic reflectivity and styling similar to the original textured stripe, the fabric was based on Bute's CF734 Kilmory design, in a matching tone to the original, with the addition of a subtle orange stripe which complemented the remodelled Robin Day auditorium seats from 1951.
